The south-western Cape, below semi-desert scrub, has a Mediterranean climate with rain in winter, and temperature differences can be extreme. It is the land of the vineyards and home of the fynbos flora, remarkable for its diversity. Heathers, proteas and grass-like restios flourish in a variety of colours and forms.
Erinvale is situated in the east of Somerset West, a country town which is some 40 kms east of Cape Town. The estate lies between the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland mountain ranges and the coastline of False Bay, narrowly separated from it by the suburban hamlets of the Strand and Gordon’s Bay.
Cape Town’s international airport is close by and good roads lead north to the hinterland or east to the Garden Route, the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
